How it works

How the Australia salary calculator estimates your pay

The calculator starts with your annual salary or hourly rate, then estimates taxable income, resident income tax, Medicare levy, employer super, and take-home pay. You can switch between yearly, monthly, fortnightly, weekly, and daily views without re-entering your pay.

Results are designed for practical salary planning. They help you compare a new job offer, test whether a raise changes your monthly cash flow, and see how much room you may have for rent, essentials, savings, and flexible spending.

2025-26 Australian resident tax brackets

These rates apply to Australian residents with the tax-free threshold and do not include the Medicare levy, offsets, HELP repayments, or special circumstances.

Common Australian salary calculator questions

What is a good salary in Australia after tax?

A good salary depends on city, rent, household size, debt, and savings goals. The calculator shows take-home pay first, then estimates rent comfort, essentials, savings, and discretionary spending so the number is easier to judge.

Does the calculator include super?

You can choose whether the amount entered is salary plus super on top or a total package that already includes super. For 2025-26, the default super guarantee rate is 12%.

Why is weekly pay different from annual salary divided by 52?

Payroll withholding is usually calculated per pay cycle. The annual summary, weekly view, fortnightly view, and monthly view can look slightly different because each period is rounded and withheld differently.
